SPACECHEM METACRITIC SERIES

It's more a linear series of puzzles that come in clusters, so you can rotate between different ones if you get stuck. The Swapper isn't really a metroidvania, despite being able to wander around. I just remember spinning the perspective around until I could progress, then that was it. I remember playing through Fez a long time ago, but don't really remember anything very "ah-ha" about that at all. Looking back at your OP, I realized that I'm kind of just throwing out awesome puzzle games with good "ah-ha" moments. When you look at upgrades you havent unlocked yet the game says "There is something in the world waiting for you", and thats a really good way of putting the feeling into words. I just beat the game but I feel as though if I really want to see everything I'm going to have to spend at least another ten hours, some of which would be spent just practicing strategies and building the skills to not get killed. There's huge secrets to find, some you will happen upon naturally and some you will obsess over finding. This game is hugely off-putting and hostile to the player at first, but after an hour or two and it will get in your head, to the point where you'll find yourself unable to stop thinking about it and the mysterious weirdness within. I'll also add in Cruelty Squad as a runner up. I love the Witness and I feel as though Inscryption made me see things, and then see those same things but in an entirely different way, which is similar to The Witness. It is a card game at it's core, but much also much much more. Legend of Grimrock 2 (I enjoyed the first one tho).Infinifactory (I have like 20 hours on it though).I also count games like Outer Wilds, La Mulana 1 & 2, and Obra Dinn in this category too.ĮDIT: Here's an incomplete list of games already mentioned ITT. Maybe less The Witness and more Tunic/Fez though. I need more "meta puzzlers" like these games. The furious use of MS Paint, screenshotting, and the notes app on my phone. That "ah-ha!" moment you get when you realize "that thing" was all around the game world and you could have always solved it.

I love the big Eureka moments when I figure out a puzzle that stumped me and I'm rushing back to solve it. I developed a yearning for more games like them but I don't know where to look. This year I've beaten Fez, The Witness and Tunic in a span of a few months.
